When I started to create this website, I was doing a lot of soul searching - oh, who am I kidding, I'm always soul searching, but at this time, I was soul searching specifically to write my "About Me" page. In fact, my first draft was A LOT more detailed before some smart and loving friends and a trusted expert told me to cut that shit down (in a nice way, of course).
Actually, I think the trusted expert's exact words were, "I would love get in there and hack up that text!" Then I think she rubbed her hands together and laughed a little too menacingly. At least, that's how I remember it...
Anyhoo, I digress (you can see the problem) ...
So, one of the reasons I was soul-searching was because I wanted to talk about my values on that page (which, ironincally, didn't make the final "hack"). This, of course, made me wonder, "What the hell ARE my values?" I mean, I know them in general, but I've never really written them down, and what are my CORE values, anyway? So, I did some googling and found a TON of websites with lots of different ways to really nail down your core values.
I happened upon a company called, Taylor Protocols - The Core Values Company (how perfect, right?!). Their site is very "business" looking and, to be honest, I was so uninspired by it initially that I almost skipped it. But, I'm glad I didn't because of the 3 the tests I eventually took, their test was my favorite!
The test is called a CVI Assesment (which stands for Core Values Index). Their website says it only takes 10 minutes, and while I don't remember exactly how long it took for me, I think that sounds about right.
Anyhoo, not only did I find the final assessment to be spot on, but the way they present it is what I love the best. Even for the free assessment (which is what I did), you get a written description of your Core Values, and also (and this is the fun part), this sweet man actually tells you in a video all the things that make you fabulous.
I mean it's one thing to read those things, but it's quite another to hear someone say them to you. I mean, you can read this statement:
"When you enter a room there is more wisdom and love energy suddenly in that room.
You are the presence of loving wisdom."
But I think it is so much more powerful to hear it. In fact, to illustrate my point, here's a video of me saying those words to you:
See what I mean? It's so nice to hear something like that in a human voice!
So, if you wanna feel great about yourself, I highly recommend doing their free CVI assesment. There is a paid version that gives you more information if you think you need it too, but I only did the free one. And, if you're hesitant to sign up for these types of things, fearing you will end up on some email list that you can't shake, I totally get that because I worry about that shit too. In fact, I have a gmail address under an assumed name that I use for just this type of thing and I did use it, just in case. And I can report that they only sent me the emails that had my results. I haven't received anything else from them.
And if you do decide to do it, let me know! I really hope you have a good experience with it as well, and I hope it helps you realize how great you really are! And I'm totally curious what they say your core values are and if their assessment rings true for you. BTW, as you can probably surmise from above, my core values turned out to be wisdom and love.
And, BTW, I don't have any affiliation with this company, so it's not like I'm getting some kickback or anything for recommending them. I mean, they think my name is Jacqueline, after all, so I'm recommending them purely as a way to get to know yourself better and have the opportunity to have someone tell you how fabulous you are in detail. I mean, who doesn't need that, right?
Bonus tip: Save the page with your assessment so you can go back and replay it when you're having a day when you're feeling a little down on yourself. I may or may not have done this a few times recently ... jus' sayin'...
