Affirmation:

Over the years, I have learned the things I had once thought of as “weaknesses “are actually my best features!

Action Plan:

Ok, I know I mentioned at the beginning of the book that I find inspiration in weird places, so here’s a doozy: the movie “Kung Fu Panda.” Ok, stop laughing! There are a bunch of cool spiritual things to be learned from that little movie, I swear! And one of them touches on this subject.

Po, the panda in the movie, is soft and cuddly and ticklish and loving – not the first creature anyone would have expected to become the “Dragon Warrior”. But, in the end (spoiler alert!), all of these characteristics, and especially the fact that he is ticklish, are what makes it possible for him to defeat the bad guy, Tai Lung! The punches and jabs that Tai Lung used to defeat every other warrior, only tickled Po. He was uniquely suited to be the only one who could beat him.

Now, I don’t want you to ruminate on your weaknesses (that can get out of hand) but just keep this in mind the next time one comes up. First, remember that it is one of the glorious things that makes you uniquely you! And also see if you can find something about it that makes you a “Warrior.” Or, if not that, at least see if you can find a way to laugh about it and not take yourself so seriously. Here are a few examples for me:

I’m hypersensitive (I’ve often been called “too sensitive”) – Well, it turns out that it makes me a pretty good actress and a really good friend.

I have a pretty severe spider phobia – Well, at least that gives my friends something to joke about.
