I’m beginning to think that the meaning of life is just to have fun, be kind, chill out, and stop taking things so seriously.
Personal growth is so rewarding (challenging ourselves, striving to be our best, reflecting inward, etc.). And I really do believe that it’s important and healthy and good for us and .... blah, blah, blah, blah….
Who am I kidding? Sometimes you just need to chill … a very wise woman I once knew called it “laying fallow.” We can get so caught up in “self improvement” that it can become a chore … something that we feel we have to do. And then we worry, Am I doing it right?; Am I doing it enough? Ugh! Instead of inspiring us, it can drain us.
So, today, just take the day off from yourself. Relax, recharge, and give yourself a fucking break. Come back refreshed and with renewed motivation. There’s plenty of time to become your best self.
Besides, taking a break is essential for growth. When a farmer’s crop lies fallow it’s done purposefully to replenish the nutrients in the soil. So you don’t even have to feel guilty about it!
Just relax and let things be for a while. You have my permission. You deserve it! Remind yourself that you're not curing cancer here. Unless of course, you are curing cancer, in which case … well … right on! But, still… go ahead and chill.
