I choose love and compassion over fear and anger; even when I’m in pain

Action Plan:

If we’re in pain, either emotional or physical, we often respond with anger. We’re mad at the pain, mad at whatever caused the pain, or just mad at the whole fucking world! And if we’re dealing with something that’s chronic or recurring, there is so much fear … fear that it will never end.

Chronic physical pain has been something that I have dealt with for more than 25 years. I have tried a lot of different things over the years to ease it; to varying degrees of success, but nothing has removed the pain entirely. I have found ways to deal with it though and that helps… on most days anyway…

One of the things that I truly believe is, in general, you get back what you put out into the world. If I’m allowing myself to just be pissed at the world, then, well, the world is gonna be pissed right back. And, I gotta be honest, sometimes I choose that … and that’s ok.

If you’re dealing with any kind of pain, try and sit with it for a little while today; see if it has anything to tell you. It may or may not, but hear it out, just the same. Respond to whatever comes up (even if it’s nothing) with love and compassion.

Most importantly, give yourself love and compassion. Understand that some days will be better than others and you’re just doing the best that you can do. And whatever that is today, it’s ok.
