Most of us spend a large part of our days talking about, worrying about, and thinking about the things that are going wrong in our lives. The media assaults us all day long with negativity, with all the troubles of the world.


And yet, whenever you see one of those lists called, “The 5 Secrets of Really Happy People”, you’ll see something like this on there: Savor everyday moments.

So, if we spend most of our days thinking about the bad stuff, how do we savor the good stuff? Well, you have to go looking for it silly! It’s there, trust me, but we tend to just walk right by it and barely give it a glance.


So, today, carry your journal with you so you can record those good moments. Look for anything that makes you feel happy, excited, creative, grateful, silly or peaceful. I like to also write down funny things that my son says or affirmations or other quotes.


I like to make it a game. I was inspired to do that when I heard this quote by Lynn Robinson, who wrote the book Divine Intuition:


“I wonder if this moment will be the thing I most appreciate today. I should savor this.”


Go on a quest to find what will be your favorite thing for the day. Write it down and see if you can beat it!


Just be careful not to write them down while they are happening. Enjoy the moment fully … savor it, baby!
