I am ever present to all of the beauty and magic that surrounds me.


Action Plan:

Let me ask you something: have you ever noticed the billowy cloud forms that are created when you pour milk into your coffee or tea? How does your body feel when you’re excited? What does the air feel like in your nose when you’re breathing?


There are so many things we do on autopilot. Hell, I am the queen of multitasking! I mean, I can get a lot of shit done while I brush my teeth.



So, in order to be more present in my life and subsequently more grateful for my life, I like to take what I call mindfulness breaks. Mindfulness is defined as:


a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations.


I like to think of them as mini meditations. Whenever I think of it, I will be totally present in a moment. I like to take it a step further and really appreciate that moment for whatever it is. My favorite one is taking a shower. I mean, we’re so often rushing through this task that I really think we forget how fucking great it feels to be in the shower! Here are few examples just from this morning:


Someone’s hammering outside; that sound makes me feel peaceful…

Look at how the light is catching on the side of that hutch –gorgeous!

I felt a pang in my stomach when talking to that contractor … hmmm…


See if you can find moments throughout the day when you can take a mindfulness break. You might be surprised by what you find.
